Getting to the South Philadelphia Sports Complex via Public Transit

Are you a Philly fan who wants to watch your favorite teams or concerts live in person? Want to avoid the hassle of driving, getting into the parking lot, and then getting out afterward? Then why not take public transit to see your team? It’s easy, convenient, and affordable. Here are some tips on how to get there from different parts of New Jersey.

Coming from North or Central Jersey?

  1. Take the Northeast Corridor train, River Line, or any of these buses: 409, 418, 600, 601, 606, 608, 609, 611, 619, 624 to Trenton Transit Center.
  2. Get off at Trenton Transit Center and transfer to any SEPTA Trenton Line train.
  3. Take the train to Suburban Station and transfer within the Center City Concourse to any southbound Broad Street Line (BSL) subway.
  4. Take the subway to NRG Station and enjoy a short walk to the Sports Complex.

Coming from South Jersey?

  1. Take any of these Philadelphia-bound buses: 313, 315, 316, 317, 400, 401, 402, 404, 406, 408, 409, 410, 412, 414, 417, 551, 555 to Philadelphia’s City Hall.
  2. Get off at City Hall and transfer to any southbound Broad Street Line (BSL) subway.
  3. Take the subway to NRG Station and walk a few minutes to the Sports Complex.

Alternatively,

  1. Take the River Line light rail or any of these buses: 405, 407, 413, 418, 419, 450, 451, 452, 453, 457 to Walter Rand Transportation Center.
  2. Get off at Walter Rand Transportation Center and transfer to any of the Philadelphia-bound buses mentioned above or to the PATCO Speedline.
  3. If you take the bus, get off at City Hall and transfer to any southbound Broad Street Line (BSL) subway.
  4. If you take PATCO, get off at 12/13th & Locust Street and transfer to any southbound Broad Street Line (BSL) subway at Walnut-Locust Station.
  5. Take the subway to NRG Station and enjoy a short walk to the Sports Complex.

Coming from Atlantic City on NJ TRANSIT’s Atlantic City Rail Line?

  1. Take the Atlantic City Rail Line (ACRL) train to 30th Street Station.
  2. Transfer to any SEPTA Regional Rail line that stops at Suburban Station or take the Market-Frankford Line (MFL) subway or the Trolley to 15th Street Station.
  3. Transfer to any southbound Broad Street Line (BSL) subway at City Hall.
  4. Take the subway to NRG Station and enjoy a short walk to the Sports Complex.

How to Buy NJ TRANSIT, SEPTA, and PATCO Tickets

NJ TRANSIT

  • The easiest way to travel with NJ TRANSIT is to use the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App. With the app, you can buy tickets anytime, anywhere with just a few taps.
  • If you want to take the Atlantic City Rail Line, you can also use NJ TRANSIT’s Web Ticketing service. You can buy tickets HERE and print them at home or display them on your mobile device during your travels.
  • If you prefer to buy a ticket in person, you can use one of the ticket vending machines at the train stations and major bus terminals. You can pay with cash, credit, or debit cards.
  • Some train stations and bus terminals also have ticket offices where you can buy tickets from a staff member. Click HERE to see if your station has a ticket office. 
  • If you take a bus, you can also buy a ticket on board with exact fare. The bus driver will not give you change.

SEPTA

  • The best way to travel on SEPTA is to use the SEPTA Key card. It’s a reusable smart card that you can load with money or passes. You can buy a SEPTA Key card from a Fare Kiosk at any subway station, from a Sales Office at some train stations, or from a growing list of External Retailers. You can register your card and manage it online or on the SEPTA app.
  • If you only need a single ride on the subway, you can also buy a Quick Trip card from a Fare Kiosk. It is valid for one trip on the day of purchase until 2:00 AM the next day.
  • If you take a train, you can also buy a paper ticket from a Ticket Office or a Ticket Vending Machine at the station. You can also buy a ticket on board from the conductor, but it will cost more.

PATCO

  • If you plan to take PATCO often, you should get a FREEDOM Card or a FREEDOM SHARE Card. They are reusable smart cards that you can load with money or passes. You can buy them from vending machines at any PATCO station or from a FREEDOM Service Center at some stations. The FREEDOM SHARE Card also works on SEPTA services, except for the Regional Rail.
  • If you only take PATCO occasionally, you can also buy a paper ticket from a vending machine at the station. The price depends on how far you travel.
