Student Pass - Mail Purchase

Register and buy your pass by the 10th of the month to receive it for the following month (for example, place your order by September 10th for your October pass)

A $3 per month processing fee applies.

NOTE: NJ TRANSIT is working with partner universities to move Student Pass to the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App® this academic year. Registered students will receive information to update their Student Pass account as each university transitions to mobile app purchase.

MyTix Student Pass - Mobile App Purchase

After setting up a Student Pass MyTix account, or updating an existing MyTix account with the MyTix Student Pass login, Student Pass will become a ticket choice in the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App. Monthly Student Pass can be purchased beginning 5 PM on the 19th of the previous month, through the 10th day of the month in which the pass is valid (for example for a January pass, purchase 5pm December 19th - January 10th)

Once a school begins supporting mobile app purchase, students will continue to save 25% on their commute to class using NJ TRANSIT bus, rail or light rail.

Benefits of a MyTix Student Pass include:

  • SAVE MONEY! Avoid processing fees.
  • NO MORE FORGOTTEN PASSES! Simply purchase and display your pass from your mobile device.
  • ELIMINATE MAIL AND PROCESSING TIME! Purchase instantly using the mobile app.
  • CONTROL CHARGES! Charges apply only a purchase is made.

Terms of Use

The student monthly pass is for the personal use of the student who purchased it and is restricted for use traveling to/from stations indicated on the pass for the sole purpose of attending school. Student passes are not honored to or from any other rail station except those printed on the pass, but they may be used on certain buses and light rail vehicles as permitted under NJ TRANSIT cross-honoring policies. NJ TRANSIT reserves the right to review applications for student passes to ensure compliance with NJ TRANSIT policies. Students must present their student identification card upon request by train crew personnel or other NJ TRANSIT representatives.

Student Interns

Student interns that attend a NJ TRANSIT accredited school in New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania may purchase a student monthly pass if the internship is through the school as part of the program to obtain a degree, and it is an unpaid internship. Students must submit a letter, written on the school letterhead stating that the internship is a required part of the school program to obtain the student's degree.
