Bus Detour for No. 86 in Union City – Sunday, September 28, 2025

Effective Sunday, September 28, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Bergenline Avenue will be closed between 48th and 2nd streets due to the Centennial Parade. 

During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route No. 86 will operate on a detour as follows:

  • Buses traveling toward Jersey City
    • Detour 1: will travel from 49th Street and Bergenline Avenue, make a left on Bergenline Avenue, right on 49th Street, right on Broadway, and then continue the regular route.
    • Detour 2: will travel from 31st Street and Palisade Avenue, make a left on Palisade Avenue, and then continue the regular route.
  • Buses traveling toward Union City
    • Detour 1: will travel from Paterson Plank Road and New York Avenue and then continue the regular route.
    • Detour 2: will travel from Broadway and 48th Street, continue on Broadway, make a left on 49th Street, left on Bergenline Avenue, right into Bergenline Avenue Station, and then continue the regular route. 

Bus stops may be lost, and minor delays are expected during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully and allow for extra travel time.
