Buses Replace NJ TRANSIT Trains during Port Authority Maintenance at Newark Airport (EWR) Station & Monorail - Saturday, September 20, to Sunday, September 21, 2025

Beginning on Saturday, September 20, at approximately 9:30 PM and continuing until Sunday, September 21, until approximately 10:00 AM, NJ TRANSIT trains will bypass Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) Rail Station in both directions while the Port Authority performs bi-annual maintenance at the Airport Rail Station.

During this time, NJ TRANSIT customers traveling to EWR Airport Rail Station will be accommodated by shuttle bus service from Newark Penn Station (NPS).

Service Notes (Port Authority ambassadors will be available to direct customers):

  • Customers should take the train to NPS, where Port Authority shuttle buses will operate on a load-and-go basis to the terminals (skipping EWR Rail Station).
  • Buses will board at NPS in front of the main entrance, outside the main waiting room at the Raymond Plaza West Exit by the information booth (Note: Main/front waiting room will remain open during this time).
  • Buses will discharge customers at the airport as follows:
    • Terminal A, Level 3
    • Terminal B, Level 2
    • Terminal C, Level 3
    • Buses will drop off and also pick up at P4 Station, valet side.
      • Passengers traveling to on-airport rental cars should disembark at Terminal A, proceed down to Level 2 Mezzanine, and then walk across the pedestrian bridge to all rental cars.
  • The last trains making airport stops on Saturday, September 20, will be the 9:22 PM train to Newark Penn Station/New York and the 9:38 PM train to Trenton (departing New York at 9:14 PM).
  • The first trains making airport stops on Sunday, September 21, will be the 10:02 AM train to Newark/New York and the 10:19 AM train to Long Branch (departing New York at 9:55 AM).

NOTE: Airport train/monorail service may resume earlier on Sunday morning if work is completed before 10:00 AM; however, shuttle buses will continue to operate until 10:00 AM.
