Bus Detour for No. 5 in Newark – Effective Immediately

Effective immediately and continuing until Saturday, September 6 at 10:00 PM, Central Avenue will be closed between South 10th and South 11th streets due to the 24 Hours of Peace movement.   

During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route No. 5 will operate on a detour as follows:

• Buses traveling toward Newark Penn Station will not be affected.  
• Buses traveling to East Orange will travel from South 10th Street and 11th Avenue, make a left on 11th Avenue, right on South 11th Street, left on Central Avenue, and then continue the regular route. 

Bus stops may be lost, and minor delays are expected during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully and allow for extra travel time.
