Bus Detour for Nos. 24 & 44 in Newark – Effective Immediately

Effective immediately and continuing until Saturday, September 6 at 10:00 PM, Central Avenue will be closed between South 11th and West Market streets due to the 24 Hours of Peace movement.   

During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route Nos. 24 and 44 will operate on a detour as follows:

• Buses traveling toward Jersey Gardens Mall/Newark Penn Station will travel from Central Avenue and South 12th Street, make a right on South 12th Street, left on South 12th Avenue, right on West Market Street, left on Norfolk Street, right on Central Avenue, and then continue the regular route.
• Buses traveling to Orange will travel from West Market Street and Central Avenue, make a right on West Market Street, left on 9th Avenue, left on Steuben Street, right on Central Avenue, and then continue the regular route.  

Bus stops may be lost, and minor delays are expected during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully and allow for extra travel time.
