NJ TRANSIT Pilots New Reloadable Contactless FARE-PAY Cards

FARE-PAY” is the new, smarter way to pay for your NJ TRANSIT trip. 

Beginning September 19, customers may load a monthly pass on the reusable FARE-PAY card for travel on any NJ TRANSIT bus or light rail. The option to load NJ TRANSIT 10-trip tickets or cash value to a card begins October 1

When buying your ticket from any TVM, select "New FARE-PAY Card" to load your purchased product or cash value to get the reloadable card for free. Then, tap your FARE-PAY card at light rail station validators, or on-board NJ TRANSIT buses, no paper ticket or exact change required! Bus customers should inform the operator of their discount status and destination when boarding to ensure the proper fare is charged.

Plus, you can register your FARE-PAY card for added benefits, including protection from loss or theft, by transferring tickets or value from any registered card to a brand-new FARE-PAY card. Or, registering your FARE-PAY card to automatically apply the Newark Light Rail underground fare or senior and disabled fare discounts.

To manage your FARE-PAY card account online, visit the NJ TRANSIT Customer Portal or call (862) 229-7139. The call center is available Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays, 8:30AM to 5PM (Eastern Time).
