Bus Detour for No. 44 in Newark - Friday, May 9, 2025

Effective Friday, May 9, from 1:00 PM and continuing overnight until 5:00 AM, Central Avenue will be closed between Newark Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard due to a special event. 

During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route No. 44 in Newark will operate on a detour as follows:

  • Buses traveling toward Newark Penn Station will travel from Central Avenue and Newark Street, make a right on Newark Street, left on Warren Street, left on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard, right on Central Avenue, and then continue the regular route.
  • Buses traveling toward Orange will travel from Central Avenue and Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard, make a left on Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard, right on Warren Street, right on Newark Street, left on Central Avenue, and then continue the regular route. 

Bus stops may be lost, and minor delays are expected during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully and allow for extra travel time.
