Bus Detour for No. 1 in South Kearny - Beginning Thursday, July 8, 2021

Beginning on Thursday, July 8 and continuing for approximately 6 weeks, Hackensack Avenue at the correctional facility will be closed between the Rts.1&9 truck route and John F. Cali Way for solar-panel installation work. During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route No. 1 in S. Kearny will operate on a detour as follows:

  • Buses traveling toward Newark will travel from Rts. 1&9 South and Hackensack Avenue, continue on Rts. 1&9 South, and then continue the regular route.
  • Buses traveling toward Jersey City will travel from Rts. 1&9 North and Hackensack Avenue, continue on Rts. 1&9 North, and then continue the regular route.

Note: Bus stops may be lost during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully, and allow for extra travel time.

We appreciate your patience as we accommodate this temporary routing adjustment.

NJ TRANSIT has resumed front-door bus boarding and cash fare collection on buses with protective barriers installed around the operator. Buses without protective barriers will continue to board from the rear, and cash collection will remain suspended.
