NEWARK, NJ –– Beginning Monday, August 16, 2004, NJ TRANSIT will close the short-term parking lot in front of Trenton Station to prepare for the first phase of the building’s expansion and rehabilitation project, which is expected to be finished in 2006.

Approximately 22 parking spaces in the River LINE 109-space parking lot, located across South Clinton Avenue opposite Trenton Station, will be reserved for short-term parking use (2-hour maximum). The short-term parking rate remains unchanged at 50 cents for 30 minutes. Additional short-term parking and daily parking is also available in the parking deck located on Walnut Avenue at the rear entrance of the station building.

When the rehabilitation project is complete, customers can expect to see larger waiting areas, new retail spaces and new restrooms. In addition, the enhanced plaza areas around the station will facilitate NJ TRANSIT’s Capitol Connection bus service to Trenton’s Central Business district, the State House complex, as well as NJ TRANSIT’s River LINE service to Camden and Greyhound bus service.

NJ TRANSIT is the nation’s largest statewide public transportation system providing more than 752,600 daily trips on 240 bus routes, three light rail lines and 11 commuter lines. It is the third largest transit system in the country with 162 rail stations, 49 light rail stations and more than 17,000 bus stops linking major points in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia.
