April 24, 2023

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT is moving future generations ahead with free rides to the office for “Take Your Children To Work Day.” On Thursday, April 27th, up to two children under the age of 18 can ride free with a fare-paying adult. NJ TRANSIT is proud to participate in this national educational event each year that promotes career exploration and highlights the benefits of using transit to commute.

“’Taking your child to work is a great opportunity to educate kids about their parents’ professions and to expose them to sustainable ways to commute,” said New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner and NJ TRANSIT Board Chair Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti. “NJ TRANSIT is pleased to offer a way for our young ones to get inspired about the future while their parents and caregivers get to spend a memorable day with their children.”

“’Take Your Children To Work Day’ is a fun and educational way to introduce children to the world of public transportation, and the vital role that NJ TRANSIT plays in our state,” said NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kevin S. Corbett. “By providing free rides to kids on this day, we hope to inspire them to consider a career in public transit, and to appreciate the many benefits of commuting by bus, train or light rail.”

This offer is valid on Thursday, April 27th, and allows two children up to the age of 18 to travel free with each fare-paying adult. Children do not need a ticket to enjoy this special one day offer.
