NEWARK, NJ ¿ NJ TRANSIT is gearing up for the unofficial last weekend of summer with special early getaway rail and bus service on Friday, September 2, and express beach service that will continue through Monday, September 5.
NJ TRANSIT will offer early getaway rail and bus service on Friday, September 2, for the benefit of customers leaving work early for the Labor Day holiday. Extra trains from New York and Newark will operate on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line, Morris & Essex and Raritan Valley lines, and extra buses will operate on select routes from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, starting at 1 p.m. Complete details are available at www.njtransit.com.

On Monday, September 5, trains will operate on a weekend/major holiday schedule with no rail service on the Montclair-Boonton and Pascack Valley lines. The River LINE, Newark City Subway and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will operate on Sunday schedules. Express Service to the Jersey Shore
Customers looking for one final weekend at the beach¿without traffic, fuel or tolls¿will find more than 40 daily trains on the North Jersey Coast Line to fit their travel needs, including special weekend express service that shaves 27 minutes off the regular travel time.
On Saturday, September 3:
§ An express train will depart New York Penn Station at 9:01 a.m., stop at Newark Penn Station at 9:17 a.m. and arrive in Long Branch at 10:08 a.m. (A connecting train to Bay Head and intermediate destinations will depart Long Branch at 10:16 a.m.)
§ An express train will depart Hoboken Terminal at 9:38 a.m., stop at Newark Penn Station at 9:57 a.m. and arrive in Long Branch at 10:42 a.m. The train will then make local stops to Bay Head, where it will arrive at 11:27 a.m.
On Sunday, September 4, and Monday, September 5:
§ A return express train to New York will depart Long Branch at 7:43 p.m. and arrive in Newark at 8:29 p.m. and New York at 8:50 p.m. (The connecting train from Bay Head departs at 6:56 p.m. and arrives in Long Branch at 7:30 p.m.)
§ A return express train to Hoboken will depart Bay Head at 7:28 p.m. and arrive in Newark at 8:54 p.m. and Hoboken at 9:14 p.m. The train makes local stops to Long Branch, and then operates express to Newark.
Discounted beach packages are available for customers visiting Asbury Park, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Long Branch, Manasquan and Ocean Grove. Customers receive roundtrip rail tickets and beach admission for one low price¿$14.50 from Hoboken or Newark, and $18.50 from New York, Secaucus, and New Jersey stations along the Main/Bergen and Pascack Valley lines.
Pony Express Service to Monmouth Park Racetrack
NJ TRANSIT¿s popular ¿Pony Express¿ service to Monmouth Park Racetrack will operate Saturday, Sunday and Monday on the North Jersey Coast Line. The train arrives in plenty of time for the first race and daily double, and departs 15 minutes after the last race listed in the program. Best of all, Pony Express riders receive free Grandstand Admission to with the purchase of their roundtrip ticket¿$13.25 from Hoboken or Newark or $18.25 from New York.
The train departs Hoboken at 11:20 a.m. and makes the following station stops: Newark Penn Station at 11:41 a.m., Elizabeth at 11:49 a.m., Rahway at 11:56 a.m., Woodbridge at 12:03 p.m., Perth Amboy at 12:09 p.m. and South Amboy at 12:13 p.m. Scheduled arrival at Monmouth Park is 12:38 p.m. Customers from New York Penn Station should board the 11:14 a.m. train and connect at Newark Penn Station.
Bus service to Six Flags Great Adventure
Customers seeking more of a thrill can check out Kingda Ka, the world¿s tallest and fastest rollercoaster, at Six Flags Great Adventure and Wild Safari. NJ TRANSIT customers can save up to $25.87 off park admission when they purchase a package that includes roundtrip express bus transportation. Buses depart daily from the Port Authority Bus Terminal at 9:30 a.m. and from Newark Penn Station at 10 a.m.
Take the kids for free with NJ TRANSIT¿s Family Super Saver Fare
NJ TRANSIT¿s Family Super Saver Fare will be extended for the Labor Day holiday. Up to two children 11 and younger can travel free with each fare-paying adult from 7 p.m. Friday, September 2 until 6 a.m. Tuesday, September 6.
