NEWARK, NJ ¿ Beginning June 25, NJ TRANSIT will add trips and adjust service frequency on bus lines to address overcrowding, and make service improvements on other lines in response to customer requests as part of the Corporation¿s summer timetable changes.

Bus customers should review the timetable and fare information for their respective lines at www.njtransit.com or by calling 1-800-772-2222.

Service will be improved on the following lines, in response to customer feedback:

Atlantic County

· The #551 Philadelphia-Atlantic City-Ocean City line will provide more trips serving the Farley Service Plaza on the Atlantic City Expressway to accommodate more shift times (7 a.m. ¿ 3 p.m., 3 p.m. ¿ 11 p.m.,
11 p.m. ¿ 7 a.m.) for area employees.

Bergen County

· In Lyndhurst, trips operating through the Lyndhurst Office Park on the #76 Newark-Hackensack line and the #192 Clifton-New York line will alter their routes to operate via Clay Avenue. The #192 line will also offer additional Office Park trips.

· The #144 Fair Lawn-Hackensack-New York line will add one reverse AM trip from New York on weekdays and adjust departure times to coordinate with the #163 and #164 bus lines.

· The #158 Fort Lee-Edgewater-New York line will offer three additional AM peak, inbound trips and an additional 3 p.m. trip from the Port Authority Bus Terminal to Fort Lee-Med West.

· The #159 Fort Lee-New York line will add one AM peak, inbound Gorge Road/River Road trip between 7:10 ¿ 8 a.m. The 8:11 a.m. local trip will be eliminated from North Bergen to New York.

· The #163 Ridgewood-New York line will provide four additional N.J. Turnpike Express trips from New York on Fridays in the summer season at 1:30 p.m., 3:10 p.m. and 3:50 p.m. to Ridgewood Terminal and at 2:30 p.m. to Upper Ridgewood.

· The #166 Dumont-Tenafly-New York line will provide three additional weekday AM peak trips from Boulevard East and North Marginal Road in Weehawken to Leonia.

· The #167 Harrington Park-Dumont-New York line will add a trip at 4:05 p.m. from New York.

· The #168 Paramus-New York line will add one Turnpike Express trip to Paramus at 7:52 p.m.

· The #155 Bogota-Ridgefield Park-New York line will adjust service frequency to coordinate with #168 bus line changes.

Burlington County

· The 317 Asbury Park-Fort Dix-Philadelphia line will change its route at Burlington County College campus in Mt. Laurel to serve new bus stop locations.

Camden County

· The #459 Echelon Mall-Camden County College-Avandale line will adjust trip times on weekdays and Saturdays to improve connections with the #551 and #403 bus lines.

· The #406 Berlin-Marlton-Philadelphia line will offer a new 6:22 a.m. trip from Philadelphia to Virtua Hospital in Marlton via the Greentree Road branch.

· The #419 Burlington-Riverside-Philadelphia (via River Road) line will add a new trip at 4:13 a.m. from Camden to Burlington to accommodate early work shifts at Aluminum Shapes in Pennsauken.

Essex County

· In Newark, the #1 Newark will adjust weekday morning service to and from the Ironbound section to alleviate overcrowding.

· In Montclair, the #34 Market Street Line will offer two additional weekday evening trips from Montclair to Orange Garage.

· In Irvington, Maplewood, and Newark, the #37 Lyons Avenue line will extend two weekday trips currently terminating at Irvington Terminal to Ivy Hill.

· In Newark, the #39 Chancellor Avenue ¿ Kearny Avenue will be rerouted from W. Runyon Street to W. Bigelow Street between Bergen Street and Elizabeth Avenue to accommodate construction of the new ramps to/from I-78 and the resulting change in traffic patterns.

· In Irvington, Maplewood, Newark, and South Orange, the #107 Irvington-New York line will extend one late evening trip on weekdays from Irvington to South Orange.

· The #67 Toms River-Lakewood-Newark line will offer daily service to Seaside Heights and Seaside Park through Labor Day. The 3:51 p.m. trip from Toms River will depart at 3:36 p.m. to make connections at Brick Plaza on the #317 line.

· In Livingston, the #73 Newark-Orange-Livingston line will operate almost all weekday, outbound East Hanover/Florham Park trips via Microlab Road/Okner Parkway to serve Gibbs College better.

· On trips operating through the Lyndhurst Office Park in Lyndhurst, the #76 Newark-Hackensack line will change its route in the Office Park to operate via Clay Avenue.

Gloucester County

· In Turnersville, the #403 Turnersville-Lindenwold-PATCO-Philadelphia will change its 9:27 p.m. departure time from Wal-Mart (Philadelphia-bound) to 9:43 p.m. to improve connections.

Hudson County

· The #128 Boulevard East-New York line will offer a new 9:30 p.m. trip from the Port Authority Bus Terminal to coordinate with changes on the #165 and #166 bus lines.

Mercer County

· The #605 Montgomery-Princeton-Quaker Bridge Mall line will extend the 8:45 p.m. trip from Quaker Bridge Mall beyond Princeton to Montgomery and add a 9:48 p.m. trip from Montgomery to Quaker Bridge Mall.

· The #609 Ewing-Quaker Bridge Mall-Mercer County College line will extend the 9:58 p.m. trip on weekdays from the Library for the Blind beyond Quaker Bridge/Sloan to Quaker Bridge Mall. The 10:46 p.m. trip from Quaker/Sloan will depart from Quaker Bridge Mall at 10:50 p.m. and extend to the New Jersey Department of Transportation for overnight maintenance workers.

· The #976 Lawrence-West Windsor-Princeton Junction Line will adjust the 7:55 a.m. trip from Avalon Run to originate at Yorkshire Meadows at 7:55 a.m. to expand service.

Middlesex County

· In Carteret, the #62 Newark-Woodbridge-Perth Amboy line and the #116 Perth Amboy-New York line will operate on Washington Avenue instead of Carteret Avenue between Roosevelt Avenue and Pershing Avenue at municipal request.

· The #116 Perth Amboy-New York line will offer additional mid and late evening service on weekdays and weekends leaving New York.

· The #64 Lakewood-Jersey City-Weehawken line will have minor AM trip time adjustments to level frequency.

· The #818 New Brunswick-Old Bridge line will add a 9:28 p.m. trip from Old Bridge Civic Center to New Brunswick via Brunswick Square Mall to serve the mall closing time on weekdays.

· The #68 East Brunswick-Jersey City-Weehawken line will provide AM trip time adjustments to narrow gap between last two trips.

Monmouth County

· The #836 Asbury Park-Freehold Raceway Mall-Centra State line will restore the stop at Freehold Raceway Mall during its 5:30 a.m. trip from Asbury Park.

· The #64 Lakewood-Jersey City-Weehawken line will have minor AM trip time adjustments to level frequency.

Ocean County

· The #67 Toms River-Lakewood-Newark line will offer daily service to Seaside Heights and Seaside Park through Labor Day. The 3:51 p.m. trip from Toms River will depart at 3:36 p.m. to make connections at Brick Plaza on the #317 bus line.

Passaic County

· The #193 Pompton Lakes-Packanack Lane-Willowbrook-New York line will provide a new 3:45 p.m. p.m. trip from New York to Willowbrook Park/Ride and Wayne/Route 23 Park/Ride on weekdays during the summer season. Two trips will be added on Fridays during the summer from New York at 1:40 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Salem County

· The #468 Penns Grove-Mannington-Woodstown line will extend selected weekday trips to serve the Carneys Point senior citizen housing development on Dupont Road.

Somerset County

· The #605 Montgomery-Princeton-Quaker Bridge Mall line will extend the 8:45 p.m. trip from Quaker Bridge Mall beyond Princeton to Montgomery and add a 9:48 p.m. trip from Montgomery to Quaker Bridge Mall

Union County

· The #822 Plainfield-North Plainfield line will adjust route along George Street branch in Plainfield.

· In Linden, the #57 Tremley line will be restructured to serve residential sections of Linden and the Linden Business District and train station better and to provide service to Aviation Plaza shopping center. Buses will now operate on E. Elizabeth Avenue instead of E. Linden Avenue between Park Avenue and Wood Avenue. Buses will also serve a new bus stop on Stiles Street beyond the second entrance to Aviation Plaza from U.S. 1.

NJ TRANSIT is the nation's largest statewide public transportation system providing more than 752,600 daily trips on 240 bus routes, three light rail lines and 11 commuter rail lines. It is the third largest transit system in the country with 163 rail stations, 52 light rail stations and more than 17,000 bus stops linking major points in New Jersey, New York and Philadelphia.
