Bus Detour for Nos. 1, 25, and 34 in Newark - Saturday, June 7, 2025

Effective Saturday, June 7, from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, Market Street will be closed between Washington Street and McCarter Highway (Route 21) due to an event.

During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route Nos. 1, 25, and 34 will operate on a detour as follows:

  • Buses traveling toward Jersey City/Newark will travel from Market Street and Washington Street, make a left on Washington Street, right on Raymond Boulevard, right on McCarter Highway (Route 21), left on Market Street, and then continue the regular route.
  • Buses traveling toward Ivy Hill/Maplewood/Bloomfield will travel from Market Street and McCarter Highway (Route 21), make a right on McCarter Highway (Route 21), left on Raymond Boulevard, left on University Avenue, right on Market Street, and then continue the regular route.

Bus stops may be lost, and minor delays are expected during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully and allow for extra travel time.
