NJ TRANSIT OFFERS LABOR DAY GETAWAY TRAINS

MidTOWN DIRECT service to New York resumes Saturday

NEWARK, NJ ¿ NJ TRANSIT has good news for customers who want to get away a little early for the Labor Day holiday. Today, the Corporation announced special service enhancements for Friday afternoon¿s commute:

NORTHEAST CORRIDOR LINE

  • Getaway train 8847 will depart New York at 1:54 p.m., depart Newark Penn Station at 2:09 p.m., Newark Airport at 2:14 p.m., then operate express to Metropark, making all local stops to Trenton including Jersey Avenue.
  • Getaway train 8849 will depart New York at 2:30 p.m., depart Newark Penn Station at 2:46 p.m., Newark Airport at 2:51 p.m., then operate express to Metropark, making all local stops to Trenton including Jersey Avenue.
  • Getaway train 8853 will depart New York at 3:27 p.m., depart Newark Penn Station at 3:44 p.m., Newark Airport at 3:50 p.m., then operate express to Metropark, making all local stops to Trenton including Jersey Avenue.

NORTH JERSEY COAST LINE

  • Getaway train 8301 will depart Newark at 3:47 p.m., operate express to Woodbridge, and then make all local stops to Bay Head. For New York customers, the connection is Train 3503, which departs New York at 3:23 p.m. and stops in Newark at 3:42 p.m.

RARITAN VALLEY LINE

  • Getaway train 8529 will depart Newark at 3:34 p.m. and make all stops to Raritan except Finderne.
  • Train 5425, the 1:06 p.m. departure from Newark, will be extended to High Bridge. The train will operate normally from Newark to Raritan, then make all stops west to High Bridge.
  • Trains 5711, the 6:23 p.m. departure from Newark, and 5903, the 6:29 p.m. departure from Newark, will be combined into train 8545, which will depart Newark at 6:29 p.m. and make all stops to High Bridge except Finderne.

NJ TRANSIT will operate on its regular weekend schedule on Saturday, September 4, and Sunday, September 5. The system will operate on a major holiday schedule on Labor Day, September 6, and resume normal weekday operations on Tuesday, September 7.

MidTOWN DIRECT service will return to New York with the first inbound train on Saturday morning. Service had been rerouted to Hoboken during the Republican National Convention.
