Bus Detour for No. 48 in Rahway - Thursday, May 22, 2025

Effective Thursday, May 22, from 7:45 PM to 11:00 PM, Elizabeth Avenue, Irving Street, Main Street, and Milton Avenue will be closed between Grand Avenue and Hazelwood Avenue for a race.

During this time, NJ TRANSIT Bus Route No. 48 in Rahway will operate on a detour as follows:

  • Buses traveling toward Elizabeth (Woodbridge Service) will travel from Jaques Avenue and Emerson Avenue, make a right on Fulton Street, left on Hazelwood Avenue, left on Lawrence Street, left on East Grand Avenue, right on Elizabeth Avenue, and then continue the regular route.
  • Buses traveling toward Elizabeth (Perth Amboy Service) will travel from Hazelwood Avenue and Lawrence Street/Woodbridge Road, make a right on Lawrence Street, left on East Grand Avenue, right on Elizabeth Avenue, and then continue the regular route.
  • Buses traveling toward Woodbridge/Perth Amboy will travel from Elizabeth Avenue and West Grand Avenue, make a left on West Grand Avenue, and a right on Lawrence Street. Service to Perth Amboy will make a left on Hazelwood Avenue and then continue the regular route. Service to Woodbidge will make a right on Hazelwood Avenue, right on Fulton Street, left on Emerson Avenue, left on Jaques Avenue, and then continue the regular route.  

Bus stops may be lost, and minor delays are expected during this detour. Please read the above detour directions carefully and allow for extra travel time.
