NJ TRANSIT and the MTA are your best travel partners when you want to visit Flushing Meadows Corona Park. First Step - Getting to Penn Station or Port Authority Bus Terminal

If you are traveling from New Jersey, you can cheaply and easily get into the city thanks to our trains and buses.

Penn Station

If you want to go to Penn Station by NJ TRANSIT trains, you have different options depending on the line and the day of the week. These are the lines that go directly to Penn Station every day:

Port Authority Bus Terminal

If you live in North Jersey, there’s a very likely chance you live near one of our Port Authority-bound bus stops. Click on the link HERE to see which buses drive past your neighborhood. Some buses only run on weekdays during peak hours, so make sure you look at the schedule. Some buses also end at the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal instead of the Port Authority Bus Terminal. If you take this route, please be aware that your trip to Flushing Meadows Corona Park will be a little less direct than a trip to the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Second Step - Getting to Flushing Meadows from Penn Station or Port Authority Bus Terminal

Getting to Flushing Meadows Corona Park from Midtown is an extremely cheap and easy task thanks to the Subway and the Long Island Rail Road.

From Penn Station

For the quickest trip from Penn Station to Flushing Meadows Corona Park, take the Long Island Rail Road’s Port Washington Branch directly from Penn Station. Once you get off your NJ TRANSIT train at Penn Station, take a look at any of the LIRR screens or the MTA TrainTime app to see which platform you’ll need to catch your connecting train on. If you’re lucky, you may not have to walk more than 100 feet to your connecting train! Once you’re on your Port Washington Branch train, you’ll only be about 15-20 minutes from Flushing Meadows (Mets-Willets Point LIRR Station).

Subway

For the cheapest trip from Penn Station to Flushing Meadows, consider taking the ​7 train (local or express) from the Times Sq – 42 St Station out to the Mets-Willets Point Subway Station. You can easily get to the Times Sq – 42 St Station from Penn Station via the Subway or on foot. From Penn Station, either walk north on 7th or 8th Avenue up to Times Sq – 42 Street or catch the 1, 2, 3, A, C, or E trains up to the same station and take advantage of the free connection to the 7 train.

From Port Authority Bus Terminal

Getting to Flushing Meadows Corona Park from the Port Authority Bus Terminal is extremely fast, easy, and cheap. The Port Authority Bus Terminal has direct access to the Times Sq – 42 St Station. When you’re in the station follow signs to the 7 train platform. From there, grab a 7 train (local or express) and relax on your way to the Mets-Willets Point Subway Station.

Download the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App for the most seamless ticket-buying experience at NJ TRANSIT. On the app, you’re just a few taps away from buying train tickets to Penn Station or bus tickets to the Port Authority Bus Terminal. If you feel more comfortable with a physical ticket, you can still buy a ticket from one of our vending machines at our train stations and major bus terminals. Ticket offices are also available at our major train stations and bus terminals. Please note, though, that exact cash is not accepted on bus routes originating at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. With that in mind, just go ahead and download the app for the easiest and most seamless ticket-buying experience.

Long Island Rail Road

Download the MTA TrainTime App (Apple, Google) for the most seamless ticket-buying experience on the LIRR. On the app, you’re just a few taps away from buying train tickets from Penn Station or Grand Central. If you feel more comfortable with a physical ticket, you can still buy a ticket from one of LIRR’s vending machines at their train stations. Ticket offices are also available at their major train stations. Once you’re in the app, you’ll have a few options for tickets, including the newly introduced CityTicket Peak and CityTicket Off-Peak tickets.

Subway

Riding the New York City Subway has never been easier. No more need to handle tokens or hope that you have enough money on your MetroCard. Thanks to the OMNY payment system, the Subway can now be accessed with a simple tap of your credit or debit card, or a tap of the phone thanks to Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and Samsung Wallet. Be sure to set up your phone for the Subway before your trip!
