Irvington, Hackensack, and Paterson Bus Terminals: Temporary Changes to Ticket Purchasing Options – Effective Immediately

The vendor tenant that sold bus tickets at these bus terminals has permanently closed. As a result, customers are temporarily unable to purchase NJ TRANSIT tickets or passes at these terminals.

NJ TRANSIT is working to install Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) at these three locations as soon as possible.

Until the machines are installed, customers are strongly encouraged to plan ahead and use the following ticketing options:

Customers may use a contactless credit or debit card or a compatible mobile wallet to tap and pay when boarding NJ TRANSIT buses. Customers should tell the operator their destination before tapping to ensure the correct fare is charged.
Download the NJ TRANSIT Mobile App to purchase bus tickets using credit or debit cards and cash.
- Customers who prefer to use cash can load it into their MyTransit Wallet at participating retailers to purchase bus tickets.
Use the NJ TRANSIT FARE-PAY card (available for purchase at select retailers), our convenient, tap-and-go contactless fare card.

NJ TRANSIT tickets and passes may also be available from authorized Commissioned Ticket Agents near the affected terminals. Products sold vary by location, and customers are encouraged to call the outlet before traveling.
