Priya Jain serves as Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Transportation, bringing more than three decades of engineering and executive leadership experience to the state's transportation network. Her priorities as Commissioner include delivering critical transportation improvements, advancing modernization and technology, and strengthening safety and reliability across New Jersey's transportation system.

Commissioner Jain began her career as a civil and environmental engineer, working hands-on with public agencies in New Jersey and the New York metropolitan region on major transit, highway, and environmental remediation programs. That early technical grounding carried her into senior executive leadership roles with global infrastructure and program management organizations, where she oversaw growth and operations for firms delivering large-scale transportation, infrastructure, and resilience programs across North America. Throughout her career, she has led and delivered major transportation and infrastructure programs spanning environmental review, project development, capital delivery, and operations.

In her role, Commissioner Jain serves as Chair of NJ TRANSIT, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, the South Jersey Transportation Authority, and the New Jersey Transportation Trust Fund Authority, and as Vice Chair of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. She works closely with state, regional, local, and federal partners to advance transportation priorities that improve safety, mobility, and reliability throughout New Jersey.

Commissioner Jain serves on the Board of Directors of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the Northeast Association of State Transportation Officials (NASTO), and The Eastern Transportation Coalition. She also serves on the Civil Engineering Advisory Board at the City College of New York.

She holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science in Physics from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India, and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University at Buffalo.
