NEWARK, NJNJ TRANSIT is advising customers traveling on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast and Raritan Valley lines to expect possible service delays and adjustments during this evening’s peak period.  This is due to AMTRAK crews working to make repairs to its signal and overhead wire systems in Newark following an overnight tanker truck accident.

NJ TRANSIT specifically recognizes the inconvenience and challenges that these delays pose to customers and appreciates their patience and understanding.

Customers are advised of the following:

  • Raritan Valley Line trains will not depart from Track 5 at Newark Penn Station today.  Track 5 is inaccessible to trains while Track 4 west of Newark remains out of service due to ongoing repairs.
    • Customers are advised to listen closely to station announcements or check the overhead monitors for track assignments.
    • In addition, NJ TRANSIT emergency response team members will be on hand at the station to assist customers.
  • Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast and Raritan Valley Line trains will be subject to delays through Newark Penn Station this evening due to congestion in the station from the inaccessible tracks.
  • Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line westbound service to Newark Liberty International Airport Station remains suspended until further notice.  Eastbound service to Newark Liberty International Airport Station will operate.  Customers may use the No. 62 bus from Newark Penn Station to the airport.
  • Systemwide cross-honoring of NJ TRANSIT tickets/passes is in effect today on bus, rail, light rail and private carrier buses to give customers alternate travel options.
