November 22, 2010
NEWARK, NJ — Though airfares may be on the rise, families traveling for holiday visits can still give thanks for big savings! This Thanksgiving and beyond, NJ TRANSIT is reminding travelers that it’s easier and more affordable than ever to take the train to the plane at Newark Liberty International Airport.
For the entire holiday travel period through January 2, 2011, NJ TRANSIT’S Family SuperSaver fare enables up to two kids, age 11 and under, to travel to Newark Liberty International Airport Station free with each adult—any day of the week.
With this discount, an entire family of four—two adults and two young children—can travel to the airport for as little as $16.50 each way. A family traveling to the airport from New York Penn Station would pay $25.
To take advantage of the offer, customers should simply purchase tickets for adults and kids over 11. Kids 11 and under riding to the Airport Station do not need tickets during this period.
On weekdays, NJ TRANSIT offers 81 departures from New York Penn Station to the airport, with service beginning at 4:17 a.m. and continuing until 1:45 a.m. The trip takes about 25 minutes, depending on the train’s stopping pattern.
