\N

June 21, 2011

NEWARK, NJ — North Jersey Coast Line and Midtown Direct service has been restored to and from New York Penn Station.  Northeast Corridor rail service remains suspended between Trenton and New York due to an Amtrak power problem caused by an earlier transformer fire in New Brunswick.  Amtrak has restored overhead power between Rahway and New York; however the problem is ongoing south of Rahway.

NJ TRANSIT is advising customers of the following:

  • There is no train service between Trenton and New York on the Northeast Corridor.
  • North Jersey Coast Line service has been restored to/from New York.
  • Midtown Direct service has been restored to/from New York.

To give customers alternate travel options, NJ TRANSIT rail tickets and passes are being honored on NJ TRANSIT buses, private carrier buses and PATH trains.
