NJ TRANSIT POLICE TO CONDUCT EMERGENCY RESPONSE DRILL ON THE HBLR 18th STREET VIADUCT IN JERSEY CITY

NEWARK, NJ — The NJ TRANSIT Police Department, together with state and local partners, will conduct a training exercise on Saturday, June 15th on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) viaduct in Jersey City to test a response from multiple agencies to a simulated light rail incident.
Also participating in the exercise will be the Jersey City Police Department, Jersey City Fire Department, Jersey City Office of Emergency Management, Hudson County Sheriff’s Office, Jersey City Medical Center EMS, and NJ EMS Taskforce.
The exercise will begin at approximately 9:00 a.m. and take about three hours to complete. During the exercise, the HBLR trains will operate on their regular schedules. Customers may notice an increased presence of police and emergency personnel, and local residents may see activity in the staging area along 18TH Street and Marion Blvd in Jersey City.
