NJ TRANSIT NAMED BY FORBES AS ONE OF NEW JERSEY’S BEST EMPLOYERS FOR FIFTH STRAIGHT YEAR

Agency Ranks First in the State in the “Transportation and Logistics” Category

August 21, 2025

NEWARK, NJ – For the fifth straight year, Forbes has named NJ TRANSIT to its renowned America’s Best-in-State Employers 2025 list. For the third straight year, NJ TRANSIT again ranked #1 in the Transportation and Logistics category and 54th out of 90 employers in New Jersey. The survey, according to Forbes, measures leading companies from around the world to identify those best-liked by employees. This recognition builds upon NJ TRANSIT’s standard of excellence after being recognized nationally as one of Forbes’ America’s Best Employers 2024, as well as the winner of the coveted 2023 American Public Transportation Association (APTA) award for Outstanding Public Transportation System from among the largest transportation systems in North America.

“We are honored that Forbes has once again recognized NJ TRANSIT as one of New Jersey’s best employers,” said NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kris Kolluri. “This achievement is a reflection of the dedication and passion of our nearly 12,000 employees who keep our state moving every day. At NJ TRANSIT, we are committed to fostering a workplace culture that values innovation, growth and opportunity while continuing to provide safe and reliable service to the communities we serve.”

Forbes 7th annual America's Best-in-State Employers list was created by partnering with market research firm Statista to anonymously survey over 160,000 full and part-time workers at companies across the United States with more than 500 employees. The consideration of survey data from the past 4 years allowed agencies that consistently perform well to distinguish themselves from organizations that may have only had one good year. An employer's final score is determined on a state-by-state basis and is built upon two types of employee evaluations:

  • Personal Evaluations: Employees' willingness to recommend their own employers to friends and family

  • Public Evaluations: Recommendations from friends and family members of employees, or members of the public who work in the same industry.
