NJ TRANSIT MONTHLY TICKETS NOW AVAILABLE ON LINE
Web Sales Available for Weekday Secaucus Service Beginning December 15th
NJ TRANSIT today launched its new Quik-Tik program, which allows monthly bus, rail and light rail ticket holders to purchase their monthly passes online.
With a point and click, the new Quik-Tik program will allow the company’s most frequent customers to avoid lines at ticket windows and vending machines. Discover Financial Services, Inc., the issuer of the Discover Card, is partnering with the Corporation to promote this new fast and convenient program.
“As part of Governor McGreevey’s and our Board’s pledge to introduce customer service improvements, we are progressing the overhaul of our website to make it more user friendly, less complicated and a more valuable customer tool,” said NJ TRANSIT Executive Director George D. Warrington. “The new Quik-Tik program we are launching today gives customers a convenient, 21st century method of purchasing their monthly passes.”
“The new online sales also will be available in time for the weekday opening of Secaucus Junction, which I am pleased to announce, will be on December 15,” Warrington added.
Monthlies offered via Quik-Tik will begin with January 2004 passes, which may be ordered beginning today at www.njtransit.com. In addition, Main/Bergen and Pascack Valley line customers can take advantage of an introductory promotion, which enable travelers to use tickets to Hoboken for trips through Secaucus to get to New York Penn Station at no additional cost. This promotion will last through January 4th. Beginning on Monday, January 5th, tickets with the New York destination will be required to travel through Secaucus Junction.
Customers who register for the free Quik-Tik program can:
· Pay with a credit card or check card. Discover, American Express, MasterCard and VISA credit cards will be accepted. MasterCard and Visa Check cards also will be accepted. Once registered, the pass will be sent automatically to the customers each month.
· Choose from several monthly pass options. The monthly options include: Rail pass; joint rail passes; Bus pass; Hudson-Bergen Light Rail pass; River Line pass; NY Waterway Ferry (Hoboken only) pass; and PATH QuickCard (40 trips).
· Use Transit Benefit Programs to defray commuting expense. Premium benefits can be automatically credited to the account, or vouchers can be sent in the return envelope included with your monthly Quik-Tik pass, and payment will be credited to the customer’s account toward future purchases.
· Control the online account. Customers can skip a month, suspend the account or change the personal, billing or travel information.
For the majority of customers traveling from 32 of 35 stations, the interstate fares to New York – which are based on distance traveled -- through Secaucus Junction will be comparable to or less than the current combined cost of NJ Transit Hoboken tickets plus PATH or Ferry tickets to midtown Manhattan.

Weekday access to New York via Secaucus is expected to cut 15 minutes from each one-way trip for customers in Bergen, Passaic, Rockland (N.Y.) and Orange (N.Y.) counties.
