UNION, NJ — Whether you’re a history enthusiast planning a day trip or a student learning on the go, NJ TRANSIT’s Jersey Journeys campaign is your ticket to celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary by exploring key New Jersey historic sites that helped shape the nation.

The campaign launched today at an event at Liberty Hall on Kean University’s campus. “Jersey Journeys: Every Stop Tells a Story” includes an interactive map showcasing more than 150 historic sites and landmarks across the Garden State, easily accessible by NJ TRANSIT bus, rail, or light rail. From Revolutionary War battlefields and colonial homes to cultural museums and monuments, the Jersey Journeys map makes it easy to explore New Jersey’s contributions to American history.

“I’m honored to support the ‘Jersey Journeys: Every Stop Tells a Story’ initiative – an innovative way for New Jerseyans and visitors alike to explore our rich heritage and better understand the role this state has played in shaping the nation,” said New Jersey Senator Joseph Cryan (LD-20). “By raising awareness that historic sites are accessible via public transit, NJ TRANSIT is opening doors to discovery, strengthening civic pride and advancing education right in our own backyard.”

“This is a dynamic way of highlighting the rich history New Jersey has played in shaping our nation,” said New Jersey Senator and Chair of Senate Transportation Committee Patrick Diegnan (LD-18). “People from all over the world will be able to experience iconic landmarks easily within reach of the NJ TRANSIT system.”

“This campaign highlights how rich a history New Jersey has that is only one rail, bus or light rail trip away,” said NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kris Kolluri. “We’re proud to celebrate America’s upcoming 250th birthday by offering customers a way to experience New Jersey’s heritage through public transportation.”

“The Jersey Journeys campaign is a fantastic opportunity to explore some of the oldest and most significant historical landmarks in our nation, right here in New Jersey,” said Kean University President Lamont O. Repollet, Ed.D. “Kean is proud to be part of an initiative that connects communities to their past and also inspires future generations to learn, explore and dream big.”

The interactive map allows users to easily find and explore historic sites scattered across the state of New Jersey, including monuments, battlefields, architecture, and other historic locations.
