NJ TRANSIT CONTINUES SERVICE RESTORATIONS FOR SEPTEMBER 3RD
All Rail Lines Except Montclair-Boonton, Gladstone, PVL & RVL Will Operate on a Regular Weekday Schedule; Bus Service, Access Link and All Light Rail Service Will Operate on a Weekday Schedule

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT crews have been working around the clock to assess damage from the storm and make the necessary repairs and inspections to resume some rail and light rail services. The storm inflicted significant impacts to tracks and roadways with areas of high water throughout the system. Please see below for systemwide service information.
Systemwide cross honoring will be in effect for rail, NJ TRANSIT & private carrier buses, and light rail.
Important Note: NJ TRANSIT service may continue to be subject to significant delays, cancellations and detours as cleanup continues from the storm damage. Systemwide cross-honoring is currently in effect to provide customers with maximum flexibility for essential travel.
All customers should allow for extra travel time and are strongly encouraged to customize their service alerts on the NJ TRANSIT mobile app to receive updates via push notifications, monitor MyTransit Alerts, their individual line accounts on social media and njtransit.com for the latest service information.
- M&E – has resumed on a weekend schedule for Thursday, September 2nd and will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Friday, September 3rd.
- Montclair/Boonton – remains suspended while damage is assessed.
- Gladstone Branch- remains suspended while damage is assessed.
- Main/Bergen/Port Jervis Lines – remains suspended for remainder of Thursday, September 2nd. Will operate on a regular weekday schedule with delays up to 60 minutes due to single-tracking on Friday, September 3rd.
- Pascack Valley - remains suspended while damage is assessed.
- NEC & NJCL – have resumed on a weekend schedule for remainder of Thursday, September 2nd and will operate regular weekday service on Friday, September 3rd.
- Raritan Valley – Remains suspended until further notice due to significant flood impacts.
- Atlantic City Rail Line - continues to operate regular weekday service.
Customers should customize their service alerts on the NJ TRANSIT mobile app to receive push notifications, monitor MyTransit Alerts, follow their individual rail line account on Twitter, and visit njtransit.com for service information.
Bus service will continue to operate but expect significant statewide delays and extensive detours due to severe flooding and road closures for the remainder of the service day today. A regular weekday schedule is planned for Friday, September 3rd and customers should continue to expect delays and detours through the service day tomorrow.
Newark Light Rail
Newark Light Rail service has resumed regular weekday service for Thursday, September 2nd, and will continue to operate on a regular weekday schedule on Friday, September 3rd.
Hudson-Bergen Light Rail Service
For the remainder of the service day on Thursday, September 2nd, Hudson-Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) service is operating with weather-related delays on a modified schedule operating every 20 minutes. Substitute bus service is being provided between Tonnelle Avenue and Bergenline Avenue, and Trains will single-track through Richard Street while crews remove debris from the tracks. Bus service is available between Danforth and Richard Street.
HBLR is expected to operate on a regular weekday schedule on Friday, 9/3, with busing between Tonnelle Ave. and Bergenline Stations, and single tracking through Richard Street to continue. Customers may encounter delays due to residual impacts of the storm
River LINE service has been operating on a regular weekday schedule for Thursday, September 2nd, and will continue to operate on a regular weekday schedule on Friday, September 3rd.
Access Link Service
Access Link is operating full service. Transfer Trips originating in Regions 4, 5 and 6 have been canceled for the remainder of the day on Thursday. Customers may experience major delays in areas significantly impacted by the storm. In an abundance of caution, Access Link may be contacting customers about rides that cannot be safely provided.
On Friday, September 3rd, Access Link is expected to be operating on a regular weekday schedule in all regions. For updates, please visit Access Link Online.
NJ TRANSIT’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is open and is closely monitoring the impacts of the storm. NJ TRANSIT crews will continue to work around the clock to address any storm-related damages.
