HOBOKEN, NJ – As part of NJ TRANSIT’s 40th anniversary of rail operations, the public is invited to historic Hoboken Terminal to view some of the agency’s iconic heritage locomotives and celebrate the rich railroad history of New Jersey this Sunday, October 1st. The event is free of charge and will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m near Track 17.
Take a stroll down memory lane with locomotives decked out in historical liveries of predecessor railroads. A recruiting table will also be available to those interested in joining NJ TRANSIT’s ranks. In addition, the 2023 Hoboken Music and Arts Festival will be taking place nearby along Washington Street.
Sunday’s event will culminate a weekend of celebration. One day earlier, on Saturday, September 30th, NJ TRANSIT will partner with the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey to run the “40th Anniversary Express,” a special historic excursion train. The train will depart Penn Station New York in the morning and conclude at Hoboken Terminal in the late afternoon.
