May 1, 2020

NEWARK, NJ — To protect NJ TRANSIT and Amtrak customers and employees using New York Penn Station, Amtrak has modified the hours for New York Penn Station to allow for daily deeper cleaning of the station and trains. Starting Sunday, May 3 until further notice, Amtrak will close its concourse, which resides on the upper level of the station by 8th Avenue between 31st and 33rd Street at 12:00 a.m., and NJ Transit will close its concourse at 1:00 a.m. The station will reopen in full at 5:00 a.m.

Amtrak has also increased the frequency of cleaning services onboard trains and at stations and have increased the quantity of sanitizers available for customers and employees. All closures allow for egress in an emergency.

In addition, all NJ TRANSIT trains that operate between 1:00 and 5:00 a.m. will continue to operate during these hours. Those customers will be allowed to enter/exit the station as needed.
