NJ TRANSIT is launching NewBus Paterson Passaic, a comprehensive plan to update the local bus network serving Paterson and Passaic.

NJ TRANSIT bus service in Paterson and Passaic is crucial for transportation. It connects people from different economic backgrounds to key destinations within the area such as Bloomfield, Montclair State University, the Meadowlands, Willowbrook Mall, and William Paterson University.  

Bus service not only ensures a safe and efficient mode of travel but also supports important regional goals such as inclusivity and connectivity. As our transportation needs continue to evolve, NewBus Paterson Passaic will address key questions about NJ TRANSIT bus service in the future: 

  • How can bus service adapt to changing community needs?
  • What is the best way for transfers to occur between the bus and other transportation services?

NewBus Paterson Passaic will assess the performance of 14 NJ TRANSIT bus routes serving the area, as well as demographic trends and emerging development patterns in the region that may inform where routes should go. The study area routes include: 

  • Route 702 Paterson – Elmwood Park
  • Route 703 Haledon – Paterson – East Rutherford
  • Route 704 Paterson – Willowbrook Mall
  • Route 705 Passaic – Willowbrook Mall
  • Route 707 Paterson – Paramus
  • Route 709 Bloomfield – Passaic – Paramus
  • Route 712 Hackensack – Paterson – Willowbrook
  • Route 722 Paterson – Paramus Park
  • Route 744 Passaic – Paterson – Wayne
  • Route 746 Ridgewood – Paterson
  • Route 748 Paterson – Wayne
  • Route 758 Passaic – Paramus Park
  • Route 770 Paterson – Hackensack
  • Route 780 Passaic – Hackensack – Englewood
