How to NJ TRANSIT to Newark

By Rail
  • Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line, & Raritan Valley Line trains travel directly to Newark Penn Station, which is right in the heart of downtown Newark. From there, you can grab a bus or light rail to travel throughout the city.
  • Morris & Essex Line and Montclair-Boonton Line trains travel directly to Newark Broad Street Station, which has multiple bus connections and a Newark Light Rail connection to take you anywhere you need to go in the city.
    • If you have a monthly rail pass valued at $67 or more, you can use it on any NJ TRANSIT light rail line or buses up to the number of zones indicated on the pass. Simply show your valid rail pass to the bus operator or light rail fare inspector!

🚆 Step right off the train at Newark Penn Station — the Ironbound is just down Ferry Street. Need to get further into the East Ward? Catch one of the buses listed below. 
🚋 Hop on the Newark Light Rail to travel to Newark Penn Station. From there, you're a walk or bus ride away from The IronBound.

North Ward

A residential and cultural gem known for its historic homes and one of the largest parks in the region.

Neighborhoods & Highlights:
