Safety Training for Emergency Professionals

Overview

The NJ TRANSIT Emergency Response Guidelines (NJTERG) awareness-level training program is designed to give first responders the tools they need to operate safely around NJ TRANSIT property, facilities, and railroad rolling equipment when responding to a train/railroad-related incident.

Program Features

  • Available at no cost!
  • Open to all first responders (Police, Fire, EMS, OEM, CERT, etc.).
  • Scheduled 7 days/week.
  • Approximately 3 hours long.
  • Typically held during the local agency’s meeting or scheduled drill.
  • Accredited by the NJ Department of Health and the NJ Division of Fire Safety.
  • NJ EMTs will receive a course completion certificate for their CEU records.
  • NJ Fire Instructors/Inspectors will receive a course delivery form directly from the DFS.
  • Can be followed with hands-on equipment familiarization at NJ TRANSIT Rail Yards.
