Safety Education Program
NJ TRANSIT Safety Education Program is a FREE 50-minute statewide public transportation education program providing safety training by bringing rail, bus, and pedestrian safety to life through exciting, age-appropriate education programs. Our Safety Education Specialists are available year-round (including summer!) to facilitate workshops for a variety of community groups and organizations:
- Schools, K-12
- Youth Development Organizations (e.g., Boys & Girls Clubs, Boy Scouts of America, Girl Scouts of the USA, YWCA, etc.)
- Day Camps
- Libraries
- PTAs
- Adult Programs
- Community Outreach Events (e.g., Health & Safety fairs, National Night Out, Back to School fairs, etc.)
Program Features
- Engaging and Interactive Presentation: Tailored to different age groups with age-appropriate materials and videos.
- Safety Tips and Procedures: Key safety rules include:
- No trespassing
- Stay alert
- Obey signs and signals
- Cross at designated areas only
- Stand behind the safety line on station platforms
- Question and Answer Session: Opportunity for participants to ask questions and clarify doubts.
- Educational Materials: Reinforce safety messages through handouts and activities.
Tailored Safety Education Programs
POP: POP teaches and encourages pedestrian safety for students in grades K- 12th (adults too). This innovative and interactive 45-minute presentation addresses crossing streets and intersections safely, traffic hazards and signals, parking lot safety, and more.
