NEWARK ¿ Race fans will get five extra weeks of ¿Pony Express¿ service to Monmouth Park Racetrack this year, NJ TRANSIT Executive Director George D. Warrington announced today. The popular service, which had previously run from Memorial Day to Labor Day, will be extended to operate from May 14 through September 25, 2005.

Families taking NJ TRANSIT can enjoy a day at Monmouth Park and avoid spending valuable time sitting in summer traffic. The train arrives in plenty of time for the first race and daily double, and departs 15 minutes after the last race listed in the program. Best of all, Pony Express riders get free Grandstand Admission to the Park.

¿The Pony Express is the fast track to the racetrack,¿ said NJ TRANSIT Executive Director George D. Warrington. ¿The train provides a convenient, comfortable way to get to Monmouth Park, without having to worry about getting stuck in a summer traffic jam.¿

Pony Express service operates to Monmouth Park Station, located on the North Jersey Coast Line, on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day) during the summer season. Customers may board at several stations, including Hoboken, Newark, Elizabeth, Rahway, Woodbridge, Perth Amboy and South Amboy. Customers traveling from New York or Secaucus Junction can connect to the Pony Express at Newark Penn Station.

A roundtrip adult ticket from Hoboken or Newark is just $10.50 ($14.75 from New York), and includes free Grandstand Admission to the park. Reduced fares are available for seniors, children and passengers with disabilities. Fares are subject to change on July 1, as NJ TRANSIT¿s new fare schedules take effect.
