NJ TRANSIT STEPS UP SECURITY
Customers reminded to report suspicious activity, unattended packages
October 6, 2005 7:15 p.m. While there is no specific threat to NJ TRANSIT, NJT Police, working with New Jersey State Police, have immediately put into effect enhanced security measures in an abundance of caution. Random Baggage Inspection: Customers are reminded that bags and containers are subject to random inspection by NJ TRANSIT Police upon entry to the system. Customers who see suspicious activity or unattended packages are advised to call the NJ TRANSIT security hotline at 1-888-TIPS-NJT or notify a NJ TRANSIT Police Officer. To report a crime in progress, call 911.
