NJ TRANSIT RESPONDS TO EARLIER FIRE
Service on or close to schedule as of 9 p.m.
Friday, March 10 8:55 p.m. update
Due to a large brush fire in the Meadowlands, NJ TRANSIT Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line service was temporarily suspended between Newark Penn Station and New York from approximately 8 p.m. until 9 p.m.
During this time, MidTOWN DIRECT trains were routed to and from Hoboken Terminal, instead of New York.
As of 9 p.m., trains are operating on or close to schedule.
To assist customers, NJ TRANSIT set up cross-honoring with PATH, enabling passengers to travel between 33rd Street (Manhattan), Hoboken and Newark Penn Station. In addition, a special bus shuttle was set up between Newark Penn Station and Newark Broad Street Station.
Trains that originate in Hoboken on the Morris & Essex, Main, Bergen County, Pascack Valley and Montclair-Boonton lines continued to operate during the incident with minor delays. In addition, Raritan Valley Line trains continued operating without incident.
NJ TRANSIT deployed additional police, customer service and emergency response team members to key locations to assist customers.
