NJ TRANSIT PLANS "SHOPPERS' SPECIAL" WITH MORE TRAINS THIS SATURDAY

Northeast Corridor will have six extra trains

NJ TRANSIT will add six additional trains to its Saturday schedule on the Northeast Corridor as a Shoppers’ Special service to and from New York City.

The additional trains will run about 10 minutes ahead of regularly scheduled local trains.

In the morning:

· Train #8820 will depart New Brunswick at 9:28 a.m. and make all local stops except Elizabeth, North Elizabeth and Newark Liberty International Airport. The train will arrive at Penn Station New York at 10:16 a.m.

· Train #8824 will depart New Brunswick at 10:28 a.m. and make the same stops at Train #8820. Train #8824 will arrived in Penn Station New York at 11:16 a.m.

· Train #8828 will depart New Brunswick at 11:28 a.m. and make the same stops as the other additional trains, arriving in Penn Station New York at 12:16 p.m.

In the afternoon/evening:

· Train #8857 will depart Penn Station New York at 4:13 p.m. and make all local stops except Newark Liberty International Airport, North Elizabeth, Elizabeth, Rahway and Jersey Avenue. The train will arrive in Trenton at 5:29 p.m.

· Train #8861 will depart Penn Station New York at 5:13 p.m. and make the same stops as Train #8857. Train #8861 will arrive in Trenton at 6:29 p.m.

· Train #8865 will depart Penn Station New York at 6:13 p.m. and make the same local stops at the other additional trains. Train #8865 will arrive in Trenton at 7:29 p.m.

Regarding this week’s holiday travel, NJ TRANSIT will run regular weekday service on Wednesday, November 26 and Friday, November 28 with early getaway trains, which will operate between noon and 5 p.m. Customers should check their timetables because train times and frequencies will vary by rail line.

On Thanksgiving Day, November 27, trains will operate on a weekend schedule, which means that the Frank R. Lautenberg Rail Station at Secaucus Junction will be open. Customers in Bergen and Passaic counties, for example, can take the train into New York City via Secaucus Junction. Service will not operate on the Montclair-Boonton or the Pascack Valley lines.

The Newark City Subway and the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will operate on a weekend schedule on Thanksgiving Day and run a regular weekday schedule on Wednesday, November 26 and Friday, November 28.

Bus customers should check the timetable for service on their specific line.
