NEWARK, NJ ¿ NJ TRANSIT Police detectives arrested a suspect wanted in the March 8 shooting at Orange Street Station on the Newark City Subway yesterday, NJ TRANSIT Chief Joseph C. Bober announced this morning.

Nakia L. Scott of Newark, N.J., surrendered herself to NJ TRANSIT Police yesterday afternoon. The 19-year-old woman was charged with attempted murder, two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a weapon (handgun) and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. NJ TRANSIT Police Detective Laquan Hudson was credited with the arrest.

On March 8, a 37-year-old woman was shot while she waited for a subway train at the Orange Street Station at 5:15 p.m. The victim was waiting with her daughter and a friend when she was struck by a single bullet. She was taken to University Hospital, where she was treated and released. Another woman, 18, was grazed with a bullet as she stood with her three-year-old son; she did not request medical attention.

Scott is being held at the Essex County Jail pending arraignment.
