NJ TRANSIT TO ADJUST SCHEDULES FOR JULY 4
Early Getaway Service Planned for July 3 - Weekend Family Supersaver Benefits Extended
NEWARK, NJ, June 27, 2002 -- NJ TRANSIT and the New Jersey Commerce and Economic Growth Commission are sponsoring the 2002 Hispanic Heritage Photography Contest in an effort to honor Hispanic Heritage Month. The theme of this year's observance is "VISIONES" -- Perspectives in Hispanic Culture. The contest encourages education and research of Hispanic culture, countries and history, and provides an opportunity for youths to creatively express their findings. NJ TRANSIT is inviting youths throughout New Jersey, ages 8-13, to submit an original photograph, from their point of view, depicting an individual, place or event that represents an important part of Hispanic culture -- customs, people, food, music, art, dance, history, lifestyle. An award ceremony, hosted by NJ TRANSIT, will be held to issue prizes, which include digital and 35mm cameras, donated by New Jersey corporations. NJ TRANSIT is the nation's largest statewide public transportation system, providing bus, rail and light rail services for 380,600 daily commuters on 238 bus routes, two light rail lines and 12 commuter rail lines. Additionally, NJ TRANSIT will provide early getaway service for many of its rail and bus customers on July 3 -- and extend its Family Supersaver Program to include Friday, July 5. Following are the schedule changes and customer conveniences to be implemented by NJ TRANSIT between July 3 and July 8: Wednesday, July 3 Rail Bus Weekend Family Supersaver The Weekend Family Supersaver Program begins Wednesday, July 3 at 7 p.m. and will continue through 6 a.m. Monday, July 8. The program allows two children 11 and under to travel free with each fare-paying adult.
