NEWARK, NJ, FEBRUARY 7, 2003 -- To accommodate customer demand amid inclement weather, NJ TRANSIT announced today plans for early getaway rail and bus service this afternoon.

On the Northeast Corridor, an extra train will leave Penn Station New York at 1:55 p.m. Extra cars also will be added to regularly scheduled trains as needed.

On the North Jersey Coast Line, an extra train will leave Penn Station New York at 1:58 p.m. and make local stops from Newark to Long Branch.

Waterfront Connection Train #2303, which operates from Hoboken to Bay Head, will also stop at Woodbridge. This train will operate with an additional five cars.

On the Raritan Valley Line, an extra train will leave Newark at 1:30 p.m., making all stops to Raritan. In addition, train #8525, which departs Newark at 1:07 p.m., will operate through to High Bridge.

Rail service out of Hoboken will operate regularly, but additional trains remain on stand-by if needed.

At the Port Authority Bus Terminal, NJ TRANSIT will operate additional buses throughout the day as demand warrants.

NJ TRANSIT will continue to cross-honor its rail and bus tickets throughout the day.
