NEWARK, NJ NJ TRANSIT Executive Director Richard Sarles will join Somerville Mayor Brian G. Gallagher and others to break ground on a project that will make Somerville Station fully accessible and more convenient for the 750 customers who use the station each day.

The project includes construction of two high-level platforms with canopies and heated shelters and the adaptive reuse of a pair of existing freight elevators for customer use.  A new climate-controlled waiting room, ticket office and public restrooms will be built adjacent to the inbound platform.  Other improvements include new security cameras, electronic signage and ticket vending machines.
