Special event tickets available

NEWARK -- Are you going to the annual AT&T Mooreland Farms Far Hills Steeplechase event this weekend? NJ TRANSIT has got your ticket and more service.

This Saturday, NJ TRANSIT will provide additional train service between New York, Hoboken and Far Hills to accommodate thousands of passengers who will attend the popular event, located across the street from the Far Hills Station on the Gladstone Branch of the Morris & Essex Lines.

As a result, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., regular Saturday train service will be temporarily altered, as follows:

  • There will be no train service between Gladstone, Peapack and Far Hills from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Shuttle bus service will be provided to the stations affected at regular 15-minute intervals.

  • Bus service will be substituted at all Gladstone Branch stations for inbound trains 716, 718, 720, 722, 724, and 736, the 8:50 a.m., 9:50 a.m., 10:50 a.m., 11:50 a.m., 12:50 p.m., and 6:50 p.m. departures, respectively, from Gladstone to Summit. Once in Summit, customers may transfer to Hoboken or New York-bound trains.

  • Bus service will be substituted at all Gladstone Branch stations for outbound trains 729, 731, 733, and 735, the 4:05 p.m., 5:05 p.m., 6:05 p.m., and 7:05 p.m. departures, respectively, from Summit to Gladstone, as listed in the Morris & Essex Lines timetable. Customers will transfer to a bus for service from Summit to their final destination.
  • Bus service may also be substituted for trains 738 and 740, the 7:50 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. departures from Gladstone to Summit. These trains will operate normally from Summit. Customers should listen for announcements at stations from Gladstone to Summit regarding the status of these trains.

During the morning hours, trains will operate every 15 to 30 minutes from Hoboken/Summit to Far Hills between 8:45 a.m. and 12:05 p.m. Customers traveling from New York must transfer at Summit to continue their trip on the Gladstone Branch. Customers are encouraged to consult the Morris & Essex Lines timetable for New York train departures.

After the races, trains will depart Far Hills approximately every 10 minutes between 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Customers traveling to New York may transfer at Summit to MidTOWN DIRECT service. Customers are encouraged to refer to the Morris & Essex Lines timetable for departure times.

Special event tickets

Passengers traveling to the Steeplechase in Far Hills on October 23 may purchase pre-printed off-peak, roundtrip tickets at the Bernardsville, Berkeley Heights and Gladstone stations.

Passengers boarding at Far Hills Station only at the end of the event, who do not possess a valid ticket or pass, may purchase a special-event, pre-printed ticket for $5 at Far Hills Station. This ticket is valid for transportation between Far Hills and any NJ TRANSIT rail station on October 23 only.

For specific departure times or further information, customers may call NJ TRANSIT Customer Service at 1-800-772-2222. Ticket offices will be open at New York, Summit, Murray Hill, Berkeley Heights, Lyons, Basking Ridge, Bernardsville, Far Hills, and Gladstone stations on the day of the races.
