NJ TRANSIT is offering extra rail service to get you where you’re going this holiday season! Customers will have more travel options and flexibility for attending special events, family gatherings and New Year’s Eve festivities.
Kids ride free on NJ TRANSIT: For the holiday season, NJ TRANSIT’s Family Super Saver Fare, which allows children 11 and younger to travel free with each fare-paying adult, will be in effect through Monday, January 6 at 6 a.m.
Customers traveling to Newark Liberty International Airport are urged to purchase their tickets in advance.

New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, December 31: Trains will operate on a modified weekday schedule until 6 p.m. There will be no getaway service. In the evening, extra North Jersey Coast and Morris & Essex lines trains will operate to New York. Some trains that normally depart New York/Hoboken on weekday evenings will not operate, or will be combined, on the evening of December 31.
New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1 until 6:30 a.m.: Additional trains will operate from New York and Hoboken. Some trains that normally operate between 12:01 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. will be cancelled.
New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1 after 6:30 a.m.: A regular weekend/major holiday service will operate (including Gladstone Branch busing).
- Meadowlands rail and bus service will operate for the 13th Global Siyum HaShas of Daf Yomi event at MetLife Stadium. Rail service will begin at 10:11 a.m. from Secaucus to MetLife Stadium. Click HERE for the rail service schedule. The first bus from Secaucus to MetLife Stadium will depart at 9:30 a.m. from platforms 9 and 10 at the Secaucus bus plaza.
