We met with Amtrak on Monday, May 1, 2017, and our operating staff is thoroughly reviewing the plan to determine its impact on our customers.
While we know there will be many suggestions and comments about Amtrak's preliminary plan -- and we welcome the input -- NJ TRANSIT needs to fully scrutinize the information and negotiate with Amtrak in terms of our needs on behalf of our customers.
To that end, our planning team is currently examining the information thoroughly to determine the entire scope of the work and its specific effect on our service and customers. Our planning experts will be keenly focused on developing any and all strategies to mitigate disruptions and minimize delays to our customers as much as possible.
Once the planning analysis is complete, a comprehensive service plan will be put into place that will maximize all alternative resources to keep our customers moving during this challenging time.
Once a service plan is finalized, an extensive communications outreach will be announced to allow our customers sufficient time to react and plan their commute accordingly as Amtrak upgrades its infrastructure in the upcoming months.
