Guidelines for Requests for a Site Visit
This document summarizes the process that a school or community organization must follow when requesting a site visit to an NJ TRANSIT facility. Each of the steps is covered more in detail below.
Educational Visits
Schools and community organizations may request a tour of one of several state-of-the art facilities operated by NJ TRANSIT. The application will be scrutinized carefully because of liability issues, and many of the requests may not be approved. If approved, a representative will be assigned to escort the group and provide information about the type of operations conducted at the location, as well as answer any questions the group might have. There is no fee associated with a site tour.
Finding a Tour Guide
Anyone interested in visiting an NJ TRANSIT site for their school or community group must complete a Site Visit Request Form.Click here for a copy of the Site Visit Request Form or contact the Strategic Staffing department at 973-378-6068, Monday through Friday, 9 AM - 4 PM to receive a form.
If calling, please have the following information ready.
  • School or group name and contact information
  • Topic of interest
  • Type of function
  • Number of attendees anticipated
  • Preferred date(s)
Next Steps
On-Site Tours
Once the Site Visit Request Form is received, NJ TRANSIT will process it as soon as possible. Please allow a minimum of three to four week's notice to give us sufficient time to approve and schedule a tour. If possible, provide two to three open dates.
You will be notified as to whether or not your request has been approved. If approved, as the tour gets closer, staff will contact you as a final check on the arrangements. If the tour is cancelled, NJ TRANSIT will make every effort to reschedule in a timely manner.
