Refurbished Hoboken Waiting Room Hoboken Terminal is one of NJ TRANSIT's major terminals. NJ TRANSIT is making improvements to the station building, adjacent property and the rail yard.

Project Scope

  • Waiting Room Historic Restoration - NJ TRANSIT renovated the historic waiting room. - Complete
  • Yard B - NJ TRANSIT constructed a double-ended diesel train storage yard. - Complete
  • Permanent Ferry Terminal Construction - NJ TRANSIT plans to rebuild the permanent ferry terminal utilizing the historic ferry slips. The project includes rehabilitation of the slips and finger piers and related infrastructure.

Project Cost
Main Waiting Room Restoration - $10 million;
Yard B Expansion - $45 million;
Permanent Ferry Terminal Construction - $119 million.

Current Status
The Waiting Room and Yard B are complete. The ferry terminal project is expected to be completed by the Summer of 2011.

The improvement will provide increased passenger amenities and increased capacity.
