NJ TRANSIT ANNOUNCES TRAVEL OPTIONS FOR FAR HILLS STEEPLECHASE ON SATURDAY

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT is offering special service between Hoboken and Far Hills to carry thousands of spectators to and from the 95th annual Far Hills Steeplechase at Moorland Farms on Saturday, October 17th.  NJ TRANSIT’s Far Hills Station on the Gladstone Branch of the Morris & Essex Lines is located directly across the street from Moorland Farms.

Customers are advised that NO BEVERAGES WILL BE PERMITTED on any bus, train or platform or in station to and from Far Hills on October 17th.  Customers are also strongly encouraged to purchase roundtrip tickets in advance to avoid lines.

Due to ongoing work on the Gladstone line, private carrier busing has been replacing rail service for the last several months. However, rail service will operate for race day only. After Far Hills has been cleared of the race patrons, bus service will again replace rail service so that work on the line may resume.

Customers purchasing one-way, return trip tickets from Far Hills Station will pay $20.

  • Customers boarding at Far Hills on October 17th without a valid ticket or pass will be required to purchase a special ticket prior to boarding the train.  The special ticket is valid until 11:59 p.m. on October 17th only for travel between Far Hills and any NJ TRANSIT rail station.
  • On Saturday, ticket offices will be open special hours at Summit, Berkeley Heights, Lyons, Bernardsville, Far Hills, Gladstone, and Dover. See www.njtransit.com for specific times.
