TEMPORARY SERVICE CHANGES FOR NEWARK LIGHT RAIL, BUS ANNOUNCED FOR 11/3 AND 11/4

October 26, 2011
NJT-11-072

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT is advising customers of adjustments to Newark Light Rail and bus service in downtown Newark on Thursday, November 3 and Friday, November 4 due to a movie production at Military Park Station.

As a result of the filming, Newark Light Rail will not operate between Newark Penn Station and Orange Street Station and between Newark Penn Station and Broad Street Station on these days.  To accommodate customers, alternate bus service will be provided; details are outlined at www.njtransit.com

In addition, buses that normally operate on Raymond Boulevard will be rerouted to Market Street due to intermittent road closures on Raymond Boulevard between McCarter Highway, Mulberry Street and Broad Street.  To minimize delays, the City of Newark has provided NJ TRANSIT with a dedicated bus lane on Market Street.

NJ TRANSIT is posting printed customer service notices and other signage at all Newark Light Rail stations. Additionally, NJ TRANSIT ambassadors or operations personnel will be on-hand at stations with substitute bus service to personally assist customers during peak service times.

Customers are advised of the following temporary service adjustments that will be in effect on Thursday, November 3 and Friday, November 4:

Newark Light Rail – Main Line

  • There will be no Newark Light Rail service between Newark Penn and Orange Street stations.  Newark Light Rail trains will operate only between Orange Street and Grove Street stations.  Customers will transfer between bus and light rail service at Orange Street Station.
