NEW NJ TRANSIT BUS SCHEDULES TAKE EFFECT JUNE 23

Service expanded for Newark Liberty International Airport

NEWARK, NJNJ TRANSIT will adjust bus service for the summer months on June 23, with significant service enhancements on some routes to better meet customer demand.

The enhancements include more than 200 additional trips per week on the #62 route between Newark Penn Station and Newark Liberty International Airport to accommodate airport employee work schedules and to relieve overcrowding on existing trips. Weekday, weekend and late-night trips will be added, including an additional 26 trips each weekday, 36 Saturday trips and 40 Sunday trips.

The changes also include Friday “early getaway” service from the Port Authority Bus Terminal on selected routes, as well as other route adjustments to improve connections and to reflect summer ridership patterns.

These adjustments are part of a scheduled, system-wide bus timetable change. Customers are encouraged to review timetables available aboard buses, at customer service offices, online at www.njtransit.com or by calling 1-800-772-2222.

County-by-county highlights effective June 23

Atlantic County

  • 501 Atlantic City-Brigantine Beach: On weekdays, a 6:25 a.m. trip will be added from Atlantic City, serving Harrah’s and Trump Marina only.
  • 504 Bungalow Park-Ventnor Plaza: Weekday school trips will be eliminated for the summer.
  • 509 Atlantic City-Somers Point-Ocean City (via New Road): Weekday school trips will be eliminated for the summer.
  • 551 Philadelphia-Atlantic City: Service will be restored to trips every 30 minutes during the midday hours on weekdays for the summer.

Bergen County

  • 145 Fair Lawn-New York: One morning inbound peak-period trip will be added weekdays and morning departure times have been adjusted.
  • 158 Fort Lee-Edgewater-New York: Saturday service will operate every 40 minutes instead of hourly during peak ridership periods – 7:30-11:30 a.m. and 4:30-8:30 p.m.
  • 161 Paterson-Passaic-New York: The frequency of inbound weekday morning peak-period trips will be increased and a new trip will be added to alleviate overcrowding. Additional trips will operate via the Commerce Boulevard-Carlstadt route.
  • 163 Ridgewood-New York: Summer service reductions. One mid-morning trip from Hackensack to New York will be added to accommodate tourist excursions, and four “early getaway” outbound Turnpike Express trips will be added to the Friday afternoon summer schedule.
  • 164 Midland Park-New York: Two “early getaway” outbound express trips will be added each Friday through the summer.
  • 165 Westwood-New York: One “early getaway” outbound trip will be added to the Friday afternoon schedule.
  • 166 Dumont-Tenafly-New York: Two “early getaway” outbound trips will be added to the Friday schedule.
  • 167 Harrington Park-Dumont-New York: Several weekday trips to the Vince Lombardi Park & Ride will be transferred to the 321 bus to alleviate overcrowding. Mid-morning Teaneck Road service will be adjusted to alleviate overcrowding, including the addition of a trip.
  • 192 Clifton-New York: Weekday morning service will be enhanced with one new local trip and two new express trips, and “early getaway” outbound service will be added for the summer.
  • 321 Vince Lombardi Park & Ride-New York: Several weekday trips that had been transferred to the 167 bus will once again be operated by the 321 bus to alleviate overcrowding.

Camden County

  • 410 Bridgeton-Philadelphia: In response to customer requests, trips ending in Mullica Hill will operate farther along Route 77, and weekdays the 6:27 a.m. trip from Mullica Hill will originate in Bridgeton and the 4:07 p.m. trip from Philadelphia will end in Bridgeton.
  • 459 Echelon Mall-Avandale: Service to the Technical Institute will be suspended for the summer. Several evening trips will be adjusted to improve connections with the 551 at Avandale.
  • 551 Philadelphia-Atlantic City: Service will be restored to trips every 30 minutes during the midday hours on weekdays for the summer.

Essex County

  • 62 Newark-Woodbridge-Perth Amboy: Additional trips every day between Newark Penn Station and Newark Liberty International Airport to alleviate overcrowding. Some trips will be extended to Elizabeth and a trip will be added Sunday evenings from Woodbridge Center to accommodate a later mall closing time.
  • 107 Irvington-New York: There will be minor weekday late-evening adjustments to departure times.
  • 192 Clifton-New York: Weekday morning service will be enhanced with one new local trip and two new express trips, and “early getaway” outbound service will be added for the summer.

Hudson County

  • 68 Old Bridge-East Brunswick-Jersey City-Weehawken: A weekday morning trip will be added and trip times adjusted to relieve overcrowding and a new 5:36 p.m. trip from Lincoln Harbor will be added.
  • 80 Newark Avenue: Weekday service will be reduced to reflect summer ridership patterns.
  • 111 New York-IKEA-Jersey Gardens: A 10:45 a.m. trip from New York and three mid- and late-afternoon trips from IKEA/Jersey Gardens will be added to alleviate overcrowding on this route that serves two major shopping destinations in Elizabeth.

Mercer County

  • 600 Trenton-Plainsboro: A 7:15 a.m. weekday trip to serve customers on the Plainsboro-to-Princeton Junction segment of the trip will be added to alleviate overcrowding.
  • 603 Mercer Mall-Quaker Bridge Mall-Hamilton Marketplace: An 11 p.m. trip will be added to the schedule weekdays and Saturdays from Hamilton Marketplace to Brunswick and Olden avenues to better serve marketplace employees, and on Saturdays more service will be provided via Hamilton Hospital.
  • 606 Princeton-Mercerville-Hamilton Marketplace: School trips will be suspended for the summer. The 8:26 p.m. trip from Princeton will be extended to Hamilton Marketplace and the 10:10 p.m. trip from Mercer County Community College will instead begin at Hamilton Marketplace at 10:11 p.m.
  • 607 Ewing-Trenton-Independence Plaza: The route will be adjusted in Ewing to provide service via Scenic Drive. Extra school service will be discontinued for the summer.
  • 608 West Trenton-Hamilton: Weekday school trips will be discontinued for the summer.
  • 609 Ewing-Quaker Bridge Mall-Mercer County Community College: School trips will be eliminated for the summer and the 8:30 a.m. trip from NJDOT will no longer operate via Quaker Bridge Plaza.
  • 610 Mercer Seasonal (school service): This route will not operate during the summer.

Middlesex County

  • 138 East Brunswick-New York: Weekday morning trips will operate every 10 minutes to relieve overcrowding.
  • 600 Trenton-Plainsboro: A weekday trip at 7:15 a.m. from Plainsboro to Princeton Junction will be added to alleviate overcrowding.
  • 801-805 Metropark Loops: A 7:37 a.m. weekday trip from Menlo Park on the 805 will be added to alleviate overcrowding on the 7:31 a.m. trip.
  • 815 New Brunswick-East Brunswick-Woodbridge Center: The 5:50 a.m. trip from South Amboy will depart at 5:45 a.m. The 7:30 a.m. departure from New Brunswick to South Amboy has been eliminated due to low ridership. The last trips from Woodbridge Center Mall will be adjusted on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to reflect later mall closing times and on weekdays and Saturdays, the 10:00 p.m. trip from the mall will depart at 10:15 p.m.

Morris County

  • 194 Newfoundland-New York: Weekday morning peak period departure times to New York will be adjusted slightly on the T-Express service and an additional weekday evening trip will operate. Friday afternoon “early getaway” service will be added to the schedule.

Passaic County

  • 161 Paterson-Passaic-New York: The frequency of inbound weekday morning peak-period trips will be increased and a new trip will be added to alleviate overcrowding. Additional trips will operate via the Commerce Boulevard-Carlstadt route.
  • 192 Clifton-New York: Weekday morning service will be enhanced with one new local trip and two new express trips, and “early getaway” outbound service will be added for the summer.
  • 193 Packanack Lake-Willowbrook-New York: Friday “early getaway” service will be added.
  • 194 Newfoundland-New York: Weekday morning peak period departure times to New York will be adjusted slightly on the T-Express service and an additional weekday evening trip will operate. Friday afternoon “early getaway” service will be added to the schedule.
  • 197 Warwick-Wayne-New York: Two late-morning inbound trips, at 9:02 a.m. and 10:52 a.m., will be added from Pompton Lakes via Valley Road and Willowbrook in Wayne to NYC.

Union County

  • 26 & 52 Kean University Connection: A new combined timetable for the 26 and 52 lines will be issued to highlight the bus service options available between Kean University and the Elizabeth rail station.
  • 111 New York-IKEA-Jersey Gardens: A 10:45 a.m. trip from New York and three mid- and late-afternoon trips from IKEA/Jersey Gardens will be added to alleviate overcrowding on this route that serves two major shopping destinations in Elizabeth.
