EXTRA TRAINS, BUSES SET FOR JULY 4TH HOLIDAY WEEKEND

NEWARK, NJ — NJ TRANSIT will offer "early getaway" bus service on Friday, June 30 and "early getaway" rail service on both Friday, June 30 and Monday, July 3 for the benefit of customers leaving work early for the July 4th holiday.

Extra outbound trains will operate on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, Raritan Valley and Morris & Essex lines, and extra buses will operate on select routes from the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Extra service to and from PABT on select routes

Newark City Subway and River LINE on Sunday schedule; HBLR on weekend schedule

On Tuesday, July 4, trains will operate on a weekend/major holiday schedule with no rail service on the Montclair-Boonton and Pascack Valley lines. However, NJ TRANSIT will operate special shuttle trains between five stops in Montclair Tuesday evening to support the town’s Fourth of July festivities. From approximately 6:30 p.m. until 11 p.m., trains will shuttle passengers between Bay Street and Mountain Avenue stations, making intermediate stops at Walnut Street, Watchung Avenue and Upper Montclair stations.

Holiday bus schedules vary by route—customers are advised to check their timetables or visit www.njtransit.com for schedule information. In addition, NJ TRANSIT will provide extra bus service on July 4 to the Port Authority Bus Terminal (between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.) and from the Port Authority Bus Terminal (between 10:30 p.m. and 12 a.m.) to accommodate customers attending holiday festivities in New York.

Hudson-Bergen Light Rail will operate on a weekend schedule; the Newark City Subway and River LINE will operate on a Sunday schedule.

As a reminder, now through Labor Day (including July 4), River LINE customers can take advantage of a guaranteed bus connection between 36th Street Station (Camden) and the Pennsauken/Route 73 Park & Ride. The free service provides additional parking options for customers returning from Camden between 10 p.m. and midnight when River LINE trains operate as far as 36th Street Station.

Northeast Corridor

  • Two additional trains will depart New York Penn Station at 2:26 p.m. and 3:25 p.m. and stop at Secaucus, Newark Penn Station and Newark Liberty International Airport, operate express to Metropark, then make all stops to Trenton.

North Jersey Coast Line

  • An additional train will depart New York Penn Station at 1:52 p.m. and stop at Secaucus, Newark Penn Station and Newark Liberty International Airport, operate express to Woodbridge, then make all stops to Long Branch (except Monmouth Park), arriving in Long Branch at 3:19 p.m. Connecting service departs Long Branch at 3:38 p.m. and makes all stops to Bay Head, arriving in Bay Head at 4:31 p.m.
  • An additional train will depart New York Penn Station at 2:48 p.m. and stop at Secaucus, Newark Penn Station and Newark Liberty International Airport, operate express to Woodbridge, then make all stops to Long Branch (except Monmouth Park), arriving in Long Branch at 4:15 p.m.
  • An additional train will depart Newark Penn Station at 3:49 p.m. and operate express to Woodbridge, then make all stops to Bay Head (except Monmouth Park), arriving in Bay Head at 5:50 p.m. Connecting service for this train departs New York at 3:23 p.m.

Raritan Valley Line

  • The 1:06 p.m. departure from Newark Penn Station will be extended to High Bridge and make all stops (except Garwood and Finderne), arriving in High Bridge at 2:30 p.m. Connecting service for this train departs New York at 12:37 p.m.
  • An additional train will depart Newark Penn Station at 3:34 p.m. and make all stops to Raritan (except Finderne), arriving in Raritan at 4:33 p.m. Connecting service for this train departs New York at 3:07 p.m.
  • Train 5711, the 6:23 p.m. departure from Newark Penn Station and Train 5903, the 6:30 p.m. departure from Newark Penn Station, will be combined and make all local stops to High Bridge (except Finderne). The combined train, Train 8545, will depart Newark Penn Station at 6:30 p.m. and arrive in High Bridge at 7:58 p.m.

Morris & Essex Lines

  • An additional train will depart New York Penn Station at 3:10 p.m. and stop in Summit, then make all stops to Denville (except Mt. Tabor), arriving in Denville at 4:13 p.m.

July 5 early morning extra train

Atlantic City Line

  • An additional train will depart Atlantic City at 1:29 a.m. and make all stops to Cherry Hill, where it will arrive at 2:31 a.m.

Kids Ride Free on NJT

NJ TRANSIT’s Family Super Saver Fare, which allows up to two children 11 and under to travel free with each fare-paying adult, will be in effect from 7 p.m. Friday, June 30 until 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 5.
